Are You the Owner of an Agressive Dog
63
Being the owner of an aggressive dog is no fun. Aggressive dogs are at times very unpredictable and untamable. Dog owners often times are stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to owning an aggressive dog. On the one hand, the animal is like a child. It’s your pet and the last thing you want to do with your pet child is give it away because of bad behavior. On the other hand, having an aggressive dog can turn into social embarrassment as well as a civil lawsuit if the dog lashes out and bites someone. If you don’t want to give away your pet here are several tips that may help you:
Contact an animal trainer
Animal trainers can be a life safer to a family. It can be a hard thing to give away an animal especially when there are children involved. You should look in your local yellow pages or contact your veterinarian for assistance.
Veterinarian work up
If you have an aggressive dog, you should contact your veterinarian and do a possible work up on the dog to see if there is something physically or neurological issuers with the dog. I wouldn’t give away the dog until this takes place.
Train the dog yourself
Many owners don’t believe they can train their dogs themselves but they can. There are many books out there that will train you on how to tame your aggressive dog. You can definitely train your own dog. The dog may even feel a little bit more comfortable with the owner training it. Try not to train the dog to much in a day. Set a certain time of the day and set a certain amount of hours per day to train the dog. If you find yourself getting frustrated you should end the training session immediately and begin again another day.
