The best way to learn sign language books is via the items below. I started out learning sign language by using The Joy of Signing book. If you are serious about learning sign language you should purchase one or more of the items below. You should practice as much as possible. The more you practice the easier the language becomes.
Using one or more of the items below will give you a good start to learning the language. If you are not so new at learning sign language, the items below will help you to improve your signing skill. There’s no reason why you should not be at least an intermediate level after mastering the items below.
The Joy of Signing
The Joy of Signing – this is the book I used when I started out learning sign language. The book is filled with 1500 illustrated signs. The signs are grouped by category. It’s definitely an easy read and easy visual book. The book is also filled with step by step explanations.
Barron's 500 Flash Cards of American Sign Language (Cards)
Flash cards are a fun way to sign language. You can use them to test yourself or to test others. There are all kinds of fun games that can be played with flash cards. I know flash cards can help you learn the language faster. The flash cards are full color and come with a complete description of the signs.
Talking with Your Hands, Listening With Your Eyes: A Complete Photographic Guide to American Sign Language (Paperback)
This book is totally awesome! It was written by a man whose parents were both deaf, he was born hearing. Sign Language was his first language. The book contains more than 900 signs that are representative of nearly 1800 words and phrases.
